Our Mission
Mary Magdalene Apostle Catholic Community (MMACC)
was founded and convened by a Roman Catholic Woman
Priest and a Roman Catholic Priest. Our mission is to:
- Welcome all, and reach out to those who feel
marginalized by the traditional Roman Catholic
Church;
-
Dedicate ourselves to living the Gospel
values especially those of compassion, peace and
social justice, as taught and exemplified by Jesus
the Christ;
-
Commit ourselves to the full equality
of women and men in a transformed Roman Catholic
Church and world; and
-
Create a new model of church community
as a discipleship of equals, through radical
inclusivity in language, worship and ministry.
Our Priorities
Liturgy
MMACC endeavors to meet the spiritual needs
of its members by providing relevant liturgies,
substantive homilies and inspiring music, using modern
theology and inclusive language.
Community
MMACC provides its members with meaningful
experiences of community, through continuing
opportunities for member involvement and dialog that
enhance a sense of belonging and maximize participation.
Education
MMACC strives to give members a theological
and spiritual foundation, through homilies and
educational opportunities that invite introspection, and
serve to guide individuals regarding matters of
conscience.
Social Justice
MMACC encourages its members to work
together as equals, with love, compassion, patience and
joy, in order to find the courage to live the gospel
values in their daily lives and serve the larger
community.
Sustainability/Succession Planning
MMACC commits to planning for and
supporting: (a) a woman priest as pastor, and (b) the
continuing ministry of women and men in leadership
roles.
Growth/Diversity
MMACC welcomes everyone who is searching
for a spiritual home where they are accepted for who
they are and as they are, and hopes to continue to grow
as a community with a focus on increasing diversity.
Visibility
MMACC offers to serve as a beacon of hope
to other reform-minded Catholics who desire change in
the Catholic Church.
It is rare in a lifetime
that we are called upon to actively embrace profound
change.
With a woman priest as
pastor, MMACC bears witness to the discipleship of
equals, and dedicates itself to transformational reform
as reflected in its vision, mission and priorities.
