Founded and convened by Rev. Dr. Jane Via ,
Mary
Magdalene Apostle Catholic
Community, welcomes
all
and
reaches out to those who are marginalized.
We
are dedicated to living the Gospel values of
compassion,
peace
and
social justice as taught and exemplified by Jesus
the Christ. We are committed to the full equality
of
women and
men
in
a
transformed
Roman Catholic Church and world. In prophetic
response to the Spirit,
we
are actively creating
a
new
model of church community as a discipleship of
equals through radical inclusiveness in language,
worship and
ministry.
We
seek to be mindful of our stewardship of the earth
and to practice environmental responsibility
for
God's creation.
MMACC strives
to be an inclusive
Catholic
community.
In
this
spirit,
all
who feel
called
to fully
participate in the Eucharist are invited to
receive Communion in the
Eucharistic bread and red wine or white grape juice.
MMACC is especially happy to provide
a church home to those Catholics the canonical church does not
want: the fallen away Catholics, driven away Catholics,
those married and divorced without annulments, gay and lesbian
Catholics and progressive Catholics who can no longer worship
with integrity in a canonical parish. Jane believes that
we live in a time of radical cultural transition. MMACC is
an effort to engage this meridian of history in a positive and
constructive manner.
Focus on Liturgy - Liturgy as Hospitality
At each Sunday's
liturgy
we
are welcomed,
at the door and throughout the
service, into a process
of
change and transformation from our separate
selves, "me", into the ongoing formation
of a corporate
community of faith,
"we".
This weekly
welcome
includes listening to the Gospel proclaimed;
community gifts, corporately
offered;
active participation in the ritual of
the Eucharistic prayer;
nourishment
from Communion together; and a concluding blessing
for service by and for one another.
Liturgy anoints us,
and forms us,
to live the welcome and communal
grace we experience
on Sunday
in living our daily
relationships
with other people throughout the week. Liturgy is
God's
hospitality
at work within
us
and among us. We experience being
welcomed,
accepted, and loved
in the family
of God.
