Census takers start at $16.50 an hour - Flexible hours, part-time and full-time positions available -Paid training, reimbursement for mileage and parking -Stay local--work right in your own community The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting temporary, part-time and full-time census takers for the 2010 Census. These short-term jobs offer good pay, flexible hours, paid training, and reimbursement for authorized work-related expenses, such as mileage incurred while conducting census work. Census takers will typically work right in their own communities going door to door and speaking to households who did not mail back their Census form. Bilingual speakers are highly encouraged to apply. The work you’ll do is important, will look good on any résumé, and you’ll work for a widely recognized government agency—the U.S. Census Bureau. The job will demonstrate your initiative, independence, responsibility, reliability, and your ability to work as a member of a team. Additionally, you’ll be helping your community gain access to federal funding through an accurate population count. A basic skills test is required for employment.
